A to Z Challenge: Z is for Zoomies

We finally reached Z day! *throws confetti to celebrate*

For the last day in the A to Z Challenge, I thought it’ll be nice to talk about something fun.

Zoomies is a term used by pet parents to describe the times dogs runs around the house like crazy for no apparent reason. Puppies and young dogs are usually the ones seen doing this.

QQ is one that frequently does this. I’ve never ever seen Chyler do this.

QQ is a high energy dog and zoomies are a great way to release energy. He’s been doing it since he was a puppy.

He’s always been very good about circling his way around our furniture. We don’t set out stuff that he can knock over, but even if there’s obstacles like bags or random objects, he simply jumps over them. I’m always surprised by how much energy he has. Even when we return home from long hikes, he still does zoomies around he house when we get home. We can never tire him out!

The first time we saw him doing zoomies, we couldn’t help but laugh. He just looked so happy, and also so very silly. There’s no purpose and no point to what he was doing, except that he wanted to do it. Sometimes I just run after him, not to catch him, but so as to join in the fun. He loves it too, and we just play catch, with him sometimes waiting just so that I think I’ll catch him, only to dash away and hide behind our spiral stairs, knowing I can’t get him there, a sly look on his face.

Our dogs exist, not just for us to love, but also to show us how sometimes the simplest things in life bring us the most joy. Not everything we do have to have a purpose. And sometimes being silly is the best thing of all. Running around the house like crazy for no rhyme or reason is not only a great way to exercise, but can also be the best part of the day.

And I can’t believe I finished the A to Z ¬†Challenge!
